About Me

This is me!
Hi my name is Geoff and I have been involved in the New Zealand and Australian animation industry since early 2000.

I originally trained as a traditional paper and pencil animator but my skill set has now expanded to include 3D animation using Maya, Digital 2D animation using Flash and or Toonboom, I am also highly proficient in pre and post production techniques using Photoshop and After Effects.

I have always had a fascination with animation but did not make the connection that animation was a viable  career option until I visited the Disney animation studio in LA in 1992. They where making Aladdin at the time and I remember a firework going off in my brain when I realised that animation was an actual real life job. From that moment on animation was the only thing for me!

After learning everything I could about animation I got my first job in an animation Studio here in New Zealand working on television animation and one off TV specials like; Static Shock, Bounty Hamster, Dave the Barbarian, Wargame, The Legend of the Candy Cane and many more.

I got my first taste of working in a feature animation studio in 2003 when I successfully landed my dream job at Walt Disney Animation Sydney in Australia. At Disney I was part of a huge team of immensely talented artists and had the honour of working on 6 feature films before the studio closed in 2006. Just for those of you who are interested you can find my name in the following Disney credits.

Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers
Tarzan 2
Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch
Bambi 2
Brother Bear 2
Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time

After Disney closed, I came back to NZ when Greg Chapman a friend I had worked with at a studio in Auckland asked if Id like to try teaching animation.

While working at South Seas Animation School, one of New Zealand's best Film TV and Animation Schools. I continued to develop my own skills while teaching students the fundamentals of the animation craft.

In 2013 I left South Seas to pursue animation projects of my own, to set up a freelancing career and to live a quieter life in Waihola, New Zealand. A beautiful little town in the South Island of NZ.

I absolutely love animation and would love for you to get in touch with ideas of your own that you'd like brought to life. For my contact details please see my Contact page.
